Aegean Region of Turkey

Aegean Region: This Turkish region takes up the western portion of the nation which includes the Aegean Sea coast (west coast), a wide region of Greek Islands and some more inland places. This Turkish region is quite popular across the globe of being the region where most of the ancient city ruins of the Turkish history are seen. In this region, the viewers get a chance to see a ‘new’ ancient city at a gap of every ten kilometers or so.

One popular example is of Ephesus which is still renowned for exhibiting the glory with which it was well-known for in the earlier times. The other cities of the region aren’t as lucky as the visitors just get to see some collapsed marble column piles when they go over to those places. These marble piles are waiting to be excavated.

Another great thing about the Aegean turkey region is the fact that a lot of towns and cities (that are still inhabited by people) are modernized or remodeled versions of the ancient regions. Some of these include Bergama, Bodrum, Izmir etc. Another amazing fact about this region is that one couldn’t find a town that is younger than at least thirty centuries in this part of the country.
